He has been teaching piano, organ, improvisation, playing by ear, theory and composition in the Phoenix valley since 1972. He also studied piano with Roland Rubino, jazz piano with Bob Ravenscroft and piano pedagogy with Dr. Joan Woods. After playing and touring with the Bill Prines Trio and Jerry Van Dyke, he taught music in the Murphy Elementary School District for a year before starting his own studio in 1973. He entered the American Song Festival in 1977 and received an honorable mention for one of his compositions
He has taught students from 4 to 84 years of age with varied musical interests and skill levels. One of his specialties is working with students who compose music. He helps them develop their ideas and notate them although they don’t all read music. He will teach in the student’s home or in his studio. Contact him for a free introductory lesson
He is also available to play any church services including weddings and funerals. He is currently a minister of music at The Christian Fellowship Church in Tempe AZ where he plays piano for the services and also accompanies the choir. He also is Superintendent for the children’s Sunday school
His greatest compliment is to receive communication from former students who tell him they own a piano and play all the time
